x . assassins

this work is made to be used. work of x . assassins has no rights reserved. x . assassins provides a program, written in a version of the max/msp language, that produces real-time sound transformations. the sound transformed, is that made by a user. the program depends on user interaction. the program executes indefinitely, whenever there is user interaction. to execute the program, some understanding of max/msp is assumed. the program requires max/msp 4.6 and the external object bonk~ v1.3. the program files are archived at links labeled [tgz] and [zip]. download whichever is convenient, both contain the same files. more information on executing the program is given in a readme file located within an archive. though it is not possible for any sound transformation that is output from the program to be repeated in sameness, no matter what the user input to the program, recordings have been made of some possible program output. high quality aiff recordings have been produced directly from the program, and are at links labeled [aif:white:671MB] and [aif:black:704MB]. these arbitrary labels are for distinguishing the recordings. mp3 recordings have been derived from the high quality recordings. mp3 recordings are at links labeled [mp3:white:61MB] and [mp3:black:64MB]. these arbitrary labels are for distinguishing the recordings, but also correspond to the high quality recordings from which the mp3s have been derived. in any case, details and force emerge when listening to program output at higher amplitudes and on higher quality sound equipment.
